Update 2021 - Engine 633 is no longer operational, and the firetruck was retired from service as it wasn't cost-effective to keep it operational. It served the communities of Prey Nop and Sihanoukville for over 13 years!
In 2008, a market that housed over 150 stalls caught on fire in the small town of Prey Nob (Nup). Because the fire station was located just 100 yards away, the only fire truck, Engine 633, which was stationed there, from Breckenridge, CO, was able to extinguish the fire and only one stall burned. 159 stalls, representing 159 families' livelihoods, were saved from going up in smoke.
Update 2021 - The Douglas Mendel Cambodian Relief Fund continues to help the fire stations in Battambang and Sihanoukville. If you would like to donate funds to help with buying fire hoses, radios, fire extinguishers, etc., please email email@example.com for info, and/or you can donate via PayPal.
